Fund Raising
Helping to keep the eyes on the coast in focus.I am very pleased to report that our first year of public relations and fund-raising has been an unqualified success, thanks to the efforts and co-operation of so many members and supporters. Several appearances on TV and radio have undoubtedly helped to promote our image. Seventy seven people with local interests have already joined our supporters list and their interest in our station and their generous subscriptions are much appreciated. Collecting cans at the look-out and elsewhere have yielded large sums as visitors and passers by identify with the work of NCI and the very necessary restoration of the building. Many local organisations have promoted events on our behalf and a large part of our funds last year came from these. In November, for instance, the Kingsbridge Jazz Club held an NCI charity concert which provided some great music and raised over £800 for the station! All events, including local fairs and fetes, not only helped to raise funds but informed many people of our activities. We have also received from people and companies both local and far afield, donations of funds and valuable equipment including the radar and wind instruments. All these activities resulted in our exceeding our first years fundraising expectations and we are extremely grateful to all who organised, helped, attended and gave so generously to enable us to keep our "eyes on the coast".
