The Windows
CondensationPrawle Point is not the warmest of places at the best of times and with two or three people inside the single glazed windows mist up very rapidly. condensation on the present windows To attempt to reduce this problem we are thinking about double glazing the windows, in the new extension, so enabling us to be more effective in bad weather. We are not sure whether the double glazing will have any affect the image from the high power telescope we use, if you have any experience in double glazing in lookouts we would be very interested. ReflectionsIf it is lighter on your side of a piece of glass it will become quite a good mirror (as you will have noticed if you have tried to look out of a window at night). This is a major problem if you want to be able to lookout at night. However it is possible to reduce this problem by sloping the glass.
This works because most of the unavoidable lights in a lookout are quite low down so if you slope the glass appropriately the light they are emiting will be harmlessly reflected into the roof leaving the watchkeeper able to see what is outside the window.
